Wyndham’s cancellation policy isn’t particularly flexible, but the global hotel chain does accommodate free date changes as long as the request is made 48 hours before arrival.

Wyndham also waives cancellation and change fees if you are prohibited by law from traveling to your hotel’s destination. For example, if government travel regulation prevents you from entering a foreign country, or local mandatory quarantine orders in certain US cities like Chicago.

For new direct bookings (i.e.: not made with a travel agent or on Expedia or Booking.com) with arrival dates after June 30, 2020: Wyndham advises travelers to check the “Additional Rate Details” link on its Rooms & Rates page or the “Cancellation & Rate Details” link on its Booking page for cancellation details.

While some rates have flexible cancellation policies, there are others which cannot be cancelled.

For all direct bookings: travelers who are prohibited from traveling by law to their booked hotel will have cancellation or change fees waived. More information is available on Wyndham’s web site.

Regarding Wyndham’s cleaning and safety protocols, Wyndham introduced the Count on Us program to transform its operations following the start of COVID-19. Count on Us is designed to protect the health and safety of Wyndham guests and employees at its 6,000+ US hotels.

It doesn’t appear Wyndham has established an equivalent program for its international properties. We will update as information becomes available.

With more frequent sanitization of guest rooms and public spaces, disinfecting wipes provided with key cards at check-in, hand sanitizer in every guest room, and social distancing guidelines in public areas, Wydnham’s program is meant to be visual so guests notice the modified operations.

Wyndham has also expanded its partnership with Ecolab, a company that provides hygiene and infection prevention technologies. The partnership is meant to help Wyndham’s hotels achieve high cleaning standards.

As the largest hotel franchise company globally, Wyndham is using its scale and supplier connections to procure and ship cleaning supplies, sanitizer, and personal protective equipment to its hotels.

As of August 10, 2020, all Wyndham hotels in the US and Canada hotels require face masks or face coverings throughout indoor public areas (e.g., lobby, elevators, hallways, meeting rooms, restaurant, gym).
