Cleaning Policy
Lyft’s Health Safety Program provides cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer, and masks for drivers, but doesn’t enforce specific cleaning protocols.
Masks & Distancing
Every rider and driver must self-certify they will wear masks, are symptom-free, and will comply with CDC COVID-19 guidelines. Riders sit in the back seat and should keep windows open.
Health & Safety Cancellations
Lyft drivers and riders can cancel rides for safety reasons, including risk to their health or safety.
Lyft Safe Travel Info
What's it like to ride with Lyft right now?
Lyft’s web site and corporate communications make it very clear that you should only be traveling in a ride share right now if you must.
It’s better to avoid any ride share while COVID-19 continues.
For those using Lyft for essential travel, the company has paused shared rides (where more than one party share the same vehicle). Lyft is also supplying cleaning supplies and masks to drivers.
Further, Lyft requires both drivers and riders self-certify they are symptom-free and will wear a face mask while in a Lyft vehicle.
A summary of Lyft’s latest protocols for both riders and drivers its Health Safety Program, which is comprised of:
- a personal health certification required for drivers and riders
- face masks being worn by both drivers and riders
- health safety education based on CDC rideshare guidance for both drivers and riders, available in the Lyft app
- distribution of cleaning supplies and masks for drivers
