Iberia Airlines Safe Travel Review
For passenger safety, Iberia Airlines created new health measure in response to Covid-19.
This review focuses on its on-board safety protocols. Like most major airlines, it also has updated its airport policies. For full information, please see the Iberia website.
Iberia requires face masks or coverings be worn by all passengers and crew while on board the aircraft. Iberia requests passengers change masks at the frequency required by the manufacturer; for most surgical or disposable face masks this is every four hours.
Masks may be only removed to eat or drink.
Iberia airplanes use HEPA filters which replace cabin air every three minutes and removes 99.99% of particles from cabin air, including many viruses.
All Iberia aircraft are disinfected more frequently with approved anti-viral products. High-touch surfaces like seat back pockets, toilets, and crew areas receive a special cleaning treatment.
Iberia provides hand sanitizing wipes upon boarding and prior to all meals with a duration of more than 4.5 hours. The airline also provides bags for disposing of used face masks.
Iberia crew wear PPE and are trained to protect passengers and follow protocols should a person exhibit Covid-19 symptoms while on board a flight.
Iberia’s on-board cabin service has been simplified: special meals are temporarily suspended and all in-flight meals are served with disposable utensils. On-board duty-free sales and in-flight magazines and newspapers are also temporarily suspended.
Pillows and blankets are only provided on intercontinental flights and are now placed in sealed bags prior to distribution for cleanliness.
Pillows and blankets are suspended on all other flights.
Regarding its ticket flexibility, Iberia allows for changes to all fare classes on tickets purchased through September 16, 2020 as long as changes are made more than 15 days before departure. Date, time, origin, and/or destination may be changed, but fare differences apply.
