Choice Hotels’ cancellation and rebooking policy was updated on July 15:
For reservations made before July 10, 2020, the cancellation policies in place at the time of booking apply.
New reservations made on or after July 10, 2020 with arrival dates before September 30, 2020 may be cancelled or changed within 24 hours of arrival with no cancellation or change fees (but rate differences may apply). However, prepaid rates cannot be cancelled or changed.
For new reservations made on or after July 10, 2020 with arrival dates on or after October 1, 2020, the hotel’s individual cancellation policy applies. More information is available on Choice Hotels’ web site.
Choice Hotels has also introduced the Commitment to Clean, its initiative of expanded cleaning processes and products across Choice-branded hotels.
Choice has developed guidance for its hotels in response to COVID-19, and partnered with Ecolab on infection prevention. Ecolab is a company specializing in hygiene and infection prevention. Choice’s new cleaning guidance includes recommendations on deep cleaning, disinfecting, and social distancing.
Every Choice-branded hotel now has a Commitment to Clean Captain — an employee responsible for ensuring each hotel complies with the company’s new cleaning protocols.
In terms of actual cleaning procedures, like many hotel brands, it focuses on using hospital-grade disinfectant to clean high-traffic public areas more frequently.
Choice also has modified housekeeping to an on-demand arrangement where guests may have fresh towels and linens delivered without housekeeping entering their room.
