Cathay Pacific Cancellation, Rebooking & Flexibility Summary
Being based in Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific doesn’t have any domestic routes. This has made the pandemic’s impact on the airline especially hard.
Perhaps that’s why Cathay Pacific’s cancellation policy is especially generous: tickets booked until October 31, 2020 may be changed an unlimited number of times up to a year after purchase.
Travelers may change travel dates or destination multiple times within a year.
Having reviewed many airlines COVID-19 cancellation policies, Cathay Pacific’s is aimed to encourage bookings while the pandemic continues.
As CX continues re-adding flights to its schedules, it has created Cathay Care, a branded program comprising its operational updates around cleanliness, contactless service, distancing, and passenger and employee health.
Contactless check-in and boarding is done with physical distancing and screens, and automatic and biometric gates at boarding at some airports.
All passengers must have their temperature checked before entering a Cathay Pacific lounge or boarding its aircraft.
Passengers and crew must wear masks throughout the flight.
Aircraft cleaning and disinfection has been expanded, with sanitization done before every flight. Cathay has suspended its pre-meal bar and pre-poured drinks for the time being.
All crew are given masks, gloves, and goggles are are prevented contact with local communities on flight layovers to minimize any chance of infection.
